Beyond Rihanna & Chris Brown: Dating Violence in Delaware County:
Dating violence is on the rise – come and learn about warning signs of abuse, how to help friends & family, where to go for help, and how to become an activist against abuse. In this session we will also look at some of the things we can learn from high profile celebritycases portraying dating violence and give participants an opportunity to talk about “what’s really going on”, beyond the media and in our own homes and communities.

Hip Hop: The Beauty & The Beef: The state of hip hop has come under fire for the negative lifestyles it has portrayed and for the influx of violence associated with the art form. As the popularity of Hip Hop continues to increase, so does its criticism. This workshop aims to define Hip Hop, examine and explore the five major elements of Hip Hop and to discuss the Implications of Hip Hop and “Beef” upon our culture.

Got Issues? (Conflict Resolution): This is a highly interactive youth / adult workshop led by Peace of the Streets exploring proven conflict resolution techniques and alternatives to violence.

Let's Talk About Sex: There is much more to educating a young person about sex than simply explaining birth control options or dismissively suggesting abstinence. In this workshop young people will be fully informed of the many ways their choices regarding sex can impact the rest of their lives.

Making of the Man: This workshop will enable “real men to do real things.” Men young and old will come together to discuss what it takes to be a man, build upon strengths and assets and work to remedy weaknesses and flaws.

Get That Money Right: This panel discussion will allow for youth and parents to learn about the wonderful employment and entrepreneurship opportunities available for young people throughout Delaware County while connecting with employers and program recruiters. So bring your “A” game, your resume and your references and come prepared to make the connections that may lead to your next job! (Resumes and references encouraged, but not required, to attend this workshop.)

Go Green and Pink: This "girls only" workshop will inspire young women to "Go Pink"! Our high energy activities will empower our young sisters to live purpose-filled lives through the promotion of positive self image, self esteem, sisterhood and service. In the session, we will work to build upon the strengths of our sisters and unleash the beauty that lives within us all.

Hands Off: Strategies to Combat Gang Violence: Is an interactive workshop that offers a unique opportunity for young people, in partnership with adults and community agencies, to develop or enhance innovative violence prevention strategies. The purpose of this workshop is to build supports that give youth the opportunity to identify community needs and combat gang violence.

It’s A Different World: This session will include information on what young people must do to prepare themselves for the college application process and becoming a stronger candidate. This session will cover the tests needed to be taken (SAT, ACT, and/or SAT II’s), SAT/college application fees/waivers, selecting a college, types of colleges that exist, whether or not an interview is required, and what admissions offices look for in applicants.

Leadership Purpose & Vision: Do your friends listen to you? Do they come to you for advice? Do they copy your style and steal your swagger? If you answered yes to these questions you are a leader. The question is, Do You Know It? Come learn how to affect those around you and not let those around you infect you and cause you to lose sight of what’s important. Leaders have a unique perspective; they see the world around them differently because they possess 20/20 vision. In the workshop will we work to enhance your life’s vision.

Misled, Miseducated and Misunderstood: Creating Methods and Messages to Keep Youth Healthy, Safe, and Connected. This circle learning session will give youth, parents and practitioners the opportunity to “huddle up” and discuss the latest trends in high school drop-out, truancy, and alcohol, tobacco and substance use amongst urban youth while exploring strategies to address risky behaviors which often lead to violence and victimization.

The Streets R Talking: Is an informative youth/adult rap session led by the Chester Youth Council, addressing the growing concern around violence, peer pressure, relationships and high risk behavior amongst teens in urban communities.
